"Angel" (stylized in all lowercase) is about the intense attraction and connection between two people. In the first verse, the narrator expresses her desire to take things slow in the relationship, and her frustration with wasted time. She compares her lover to a drug, and suggests that he has the power to take her across borders. In the chorus, the narrator sings about how the relationship is taking her higher and higher, both physically and emotionally. She is completely under his spell and is content with being "kept high".
