American Slang is the first single from The Gaslight Anthem's third studio release, American Slang. The song was released on Facebook and MySpace on March 23rd, the album is due out June 14th in the UK and June 15th in the US. According to the American Slang Songfacts, Brian Fallon was hesitant to use the song title. He told Spinner: "You call something American anything you better have something to back that up with," he said. "It's like an English band calling a song English something, you have a big thing to live up to.
