“America” is Logic’s way of expressing his political thoughts. This is also the first time he has ever made a statement about politics in his music. In an interview with Genius, on their series “Verified,” Logic said: "I’ve never done a song like this ever. I’ve never gotten political. I’ve never talked about things. It ain’t even about black or this or that. It’s just about America." “America” was originally planned to be released as one of three singles, but Logic decided to release “1-800-273-8255” instead.
