As the band folklore goes, Batts wanted to give it a whirl as a vocalist on the idea for Ambulence Chaser. While Batts was singing in the studio, he had thought that he had created some terrible monster that wouldn't stop crapping all over the place and he said he must slay it and never sing again. Cackle completely disagreed with his friend's theory on his vocals and thought that the terrible monster was exactly what was needed for this song because, in the end, it's about lawyers and it didn't matter who did the crapping.
