“Actor“ is the first track on Conan Gray’s fourth studio album, Wishbone. In an interview with the V Magazine on June 21, 2025, Gray has described this as a love song, from which in the story arc of Wishbone “things kind of progress from there.” In a Q&A in London on July 11, Conan mentioned he needed to rewrite it many times before finding the tone he wanted to capture. ““Actor“ felt like the perfect way to give people a rundown of exactly how I was feeling from top to bottom of the album.
