The final track of Interpol’s sophomore album, Antics, of which frontman and lyricist Paul Banks said: “It’s a family relationship song. The observers, who are narrating, are aquatic creatures under a boat watching this unfolding drama between father and son. Possibly the first song ever to be written from the point of view of a crustacean.“ The original demo of this song (featured in the 10th anniversary re-release of Turn on the Bright Lights) included a reading of a passage from Georges Bataille’s book Literature and Evil
