Van revealed the meaning behind the song title in an interview, stating: "It’s called 7 because I wrote it when I was seven hours behind the time difference from the person who I wrote it about." The song also mentions Larry, Catfish and the Bottlemen’s guitar technician, as an inside joke between the band members.
