"500 Miles" (also known as "500 Miles Away from Home" or "Railroaders' Lament") is a 1961 song credited to American folksinger and songwriter Hedy West. Popular in the United States and Europe during the 1960s folk revival, the song has been covered by many artists. The Hooters recorded a version with additional lyrics, dedicated to the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.
