1492 is a song by American rock band Counting Crows, the opening track of their 2008 album Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings. Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz announced on January 12th, 2008 that this song would be released as a digital single ahead of the release of Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, with When I Dream of Michelangelo on the B-side. The single was released for download four days later, on January 16th, 2008, however, it is not the lead commerical single for the album.
