"1000 Doves" is a song about the desire to be understood and accepted by others. Gaga begins the song by pleading with someone to listen to her despite her imperfections and insecurities. She promises to catch their tears as they fall and be there for them just as she wishes someone would be there for her. The chorus is a request for help and support from others to lift her up and give her a start. Gaga compares herself to a bird with broken wings
