Artist
Vlad Dobrovolski is a sound artist. Influenced by improvisation in contemporary art, his work expands outside of the sound world straddling different disciplines of interest. In the early 00s he had come out with collage music and impromptu recordings under Fitz Ellarald moniker for Amorfon Tokyo based label. Then he started to perform improvised music as a part of Las Kalugas quartet. For getting basic drone sound supporting improvisation, he often used vintage russian analog systems. The improvisation style has been influenced from traditional Okinawa island music. His sound includes elements of ambient, experimental, electro-acoustic, new age and contemporary music. Dobrovolski is also a band member of Kurvenshreiber synth trio, tape duo S A D participant and works as an independent sound art curator in Cyland Audio Archive, collaborating with various sound artists around the world. Being an independent curator helps to expand Vlad's artistic research when developing new projects for his own practice.
