A mix of post-punk and rock ‘n’ roll, Jesus and Mary Chain meet Joy Division meets The Stooges! Winnipeg’s The Vitals are a new band made of familiar faces to its home city’s music scene. Its members met either through mutual admiration, having slugged it out in other bands together or through straight up mistaken identity. “When Sean reached out to Jimmy Shand looking for a drummer he thought he was another musician named Jimmy; so when Mr. Shand showed up to the first practice, Sean didn’t know he was. Regardless, he had drumsticks and beer... and fortunately is an incredible drummer!” Drawn to music with tense, urgent and angular qualities- The Vitals’ plan to release a debut five song E.P. (recorded by Shawn Dealey (producer/ engineer/ mixing for counting crows; recording/mixing for imaginary cities) in April 2016 while playing stages at home in Winnipeg and beyond, setting their sights on Waste Fest, Breakout West, Sled Island and more.
