The Suede Crocodiles were a Scottish indie band based in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Fronted by Kevin McDermott and previously known as Popgun, they appeared on the scene in 1983, along with fellow travellers such as Del Amitri and Lloyd Cole & The Commotions. Their début single, 'Stop The Rain' (1983), quickly established them as one of the most talented bands on the scene, but by the time their follow-up single, 'Paint Yourself a Rainbow', was released, the band had already fallen apart, with McDermott and fellow guitarist and singer, Roddy Johnson, going their separate ways and both laying claim to the band's name. Stop The Rain is also the title of a compilation CD (2001, re-issued 2010) of unfinished recordings from their brief time together. Kevin McDermott then embarked on a solo career, releasing critically acclaimed albums in his own right, both solo and with his Kevin McDermott Orchestra.
