The Skanktronics formed in late January, 2001 with a dream to bring the ska scene back to the Cleveland, OH area. Billy Webb and Josh Rivers had the original idea to start the band and got together and began to write songs on their own, with no drummer or other members. They wrote a few songs that were never used until they acquired a second guitarist by the name of Allen. He wasn't too much into punk or ska, mainly metal, but they needed another guy and he was willing to do it (eventually he became fond of the genres). The band practiced as a three piece a few times but they were frustrated by the fact that they had no drummer. Allen knew a kid, named Shiah, who played drums, so they tried him out and decided to let him in around March, 2001. The band was only together as a four piece for about one week until Josh decided to quit the band for personal reasons. The remaining three members were confused by Josh's decision to quit, but they decided to continue on as a three piece. They searched for a new guitarist and singer (Josh was supposed to sing), but nothing really came up, so eventually Bill and Allen just started to sing all the songs. The band practiced for about a month together and began to get some songs together so they started to book some shows. They began to play out around late May, 2001. They did two shows as a three piece with Allen, Bill, and Shiah, but Allen and Bill weren't happy with Shiah's drumming so they decided to let him go and pick up another dr
