There are two bands with this name. 1)The Reactionaries were a band formed by D. Boon, Mike Watt and George Hurley with vocalist Martin Tamburovich at the end of 1978 in San Pedro. D. Boon and Mike Watt had been playing for several years already, but this is the first band they started writing songs for. At a Clash show they came in touch with people from the band Black Flag, and the Reactionaries played their first gig opening for Black Flag in early 1979 in San Pedro. D. Boon broke up the band by the fall of that year, and would later form the highly influential band the Minutemen in January of 1980 with Mike Watt. Hurley would soon join this band, after a short stay with new wave band Hey Taxi! 2)When Michiel (guitar), Gert (drums) and Nico (vocals) came together towards the end of 2006 and started sharing some musical and lyrical ideas, they soon recaptured the same urge and passion that had put them out on the road for large parts of the past four years. Earlier that year Michiel and Gert had played their final show with their band Dead Stop. Going out with a blast, the hardcore-punk group left a definite mark on the European and American punk scene. Shortly after, labelmates and acclaimed punkgroup Restless Youth called it quits, leaving drummer Nico without a band but full of eager and new ideas.
