The Narcotics are a band from Brisbane, Australia. They formed when four people with an obsessive interest in music were driven to create music for people with taste as impeccable as their own. After throwing their rich textured sounds onto crusty old 4 tracks they set about throwing them at audiences in the small but vibrant Brisbane underground. Their latest release, A Town Called Bastard (EP), is the culmination of three years of honing their skills. "If the Jesus & the Mary Chain weren’t born in the humdrum gloomy suburbia of Glasgow, I think the end result would sound like The Narcotics. The wall-of-sound guitars, shoegazing and prospect of spontaneous dancing (or at least a decent sway) are there, it just feels much lighter and brighter.
