http://www.myspace.com/themarchen The Märchen is an alternative indie rock band based out of South Florida. Guitarists Matt Salcito and Noah Garbarino began writing music for the band in late 2006 after their last project ended. They soon filled out the lineup by adding Noah’s brother Ben Garbarino, the drummer, and bassist Erick King for the rhythm section. As their style expanded and the need for more diverse instrumentation surfaced, Andrew Cochran joined to band to fill the part. The five then sought out a singer and eventually recruited friend, Katherine Dzuro. The largest goal with their music was to try to realize the use of more extraordinary instruments in a sea of bands in their local music scene with the standard two guitar, bass, and drums arrangement. Mandolin, banjo, piano, melodica, trumpet, steel guitar, and others are strewn about throughout their songs to create unique sounds and an interesting live performance. Most recently the Märchen has been signed to Florida Atlantic University’s student record label, Hoot/Wisdom, and has begun recording on their first EP.
