Taiyo Shirai is a Japanese American composer and music producer known for his work under the aliases Taiyo Ky (chill r&b) and Mr. Shirai (lo-fi jazzhop). He was born in Yokohama, Japan, but has since relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His musical endeavors are characterized by a fusion of hip-hop beats and sincere singer-songwriter elements, aiming to interweave cozy lo-fi textures with subtly ironic tales of romance. Shirai's earliest Spotify releases include "Trip4luv" under the name Taiyo Ky on August 28, 2017, and "Need This 2b Real" as Mr. Shirai on December 10, 2017. His debut album as Mr. Shirai, titled "Bi-To Te-Pu," was introduced on October 22, 2020, followed by his debut album as Taiyo Ky, titled "Hope You Notice," on February 25, 2022. Subsequently, he released his sophomore album as Mr. Shirai, "and Bye Bye Jpn," on April 20, 2022. On August 4, 2022, Shirai established a music production house named Sonic Lobby.
