Artist
Steakfry, real name Ryan Micheal Costelloe, was an alternative rock/punk artist from Reno, Nevada. (12/31/1998 β 4/7/2023). Beginning at age 14, Costelloe wrote and recorded songs inspired by 60βs psych and garage rock revival. True to the DIY ethic, he utilized the cheapest equipment he could come into possession of, set up a primitive home studio, and played every single instrument himself. Rounding out any recording limitations with a formidable guitar prowess, an effortless voice, and a generous amount of effects, he very quickly forged his own unique and uncompromising vision into reality, all from his bedroom. The first official Steakfry album was released in 2017 while Costelloe was still in high school. The ensuing years saw his rise to prominence over internet platforms such as Soundcloud and the release of five more homemade records. Even despite suffering seizures and a diagnosis of Glioblastoma in November 2020, he underwent two surgeries for tumor removal and got right back to it; recording four records and many individual recordings. Ryan Costelloe passed away April 7th 2023, Good Friday, after a three year battle with brain cancer; he was 24. Ryan's family continues his legacy with two records released to streaming under the Steakfry name, Keep the Faith and Youngfry; the former a collaboration with Jogn Jackson, the latter with Arizona Young.
