Square Extension was a conceptual electro project started by gish and dziam of “dust|box” in the summer of 2006. The project ended in 2009. The music can be described as a mix of electro, electronica, 8bit, bits and pieces of industrial and many other genres (even hiphop). The narrative character of the tracks sometimes pushes them to drop the stanza-chorus schemes for some arrangement experimentation. While not lacking the electro, dance-able vibe, the band manages to squeeze in plenty of other inspirations, genres, and combines it all in a mind engaging package, for both the ears and the eyes. The EP “Extend, Expand” was released in March 2009. It is based upon a short story and all the lyrics are connected by the same protagonists, the same general mood and the same locations. As the story progresses, sounds take over to create the final mix of both worlds. Adding an engaging visual aspect to it, as a final touch, fully shows what square extension really is. The visual side is a mix of gish’s ideas (carrying an LCD screen, theatrical movement, a lively, full of motion performance, wooden dolls, bodypainting, props) and amazing visuals of Kol Belov (Kollaps.ru), vj BolVVerk, and others. The band did a few festiwal gigs (Castle Party, Festival of Sin in London, Mlynstock, Noise & Blood festival) and played in most of the Polish big cities (Warszawa, Wroclaw, Szczecin, Opole, Poznan, Lodz) Lineup * gish - vocals, ambience, buzzes, lyrics, drum programming, synth bass
