Sergei "Shnur" Shnurov (Russian: Сергей Шнуров) (born April 13, 1973) [1] is the frontman for the Russian ska-punk band Leningrad, a group that enjoys lengendary popularity despite the fact that most of their songs contain explicit lyrics. Moscow Mayor Yuriy Luzhkov has cancelled Leningrad concerts in Moscow, but this did not stop President Vladimir Putin's wife from taking off her shoes and dancing to Leningrad during St. Petersburg's 300th anniversary celebrations. Shnur, as he's affectionately known, is a local hero despite his foul language. Western audiences can check out a few of his songs on the soundtrack to Everything Is Illuminated, including the hugely popular "Dikij Mushchina," which translates as "Wild Man." Shnurov also composed music for many other movies, including the Russian cult-film Boomer. He released a solo album with the same foul language that made him famous as the front man of Leningrad.
