Although they began back in 2005 as a two-member local curiosity, Ruiz current lineup dates from mid-2007. In that year, they self-released EP Taste! and made a „partisan“ video for the song „Porn Stars from Mars“, which has become a mini legend. Shot in just a few hours, the video stayed on the first place of the charts of a Croatian Television youth program. The band has played some seventy concerts in Croatia and Slovenia, including major festivals such as VipINmusic Festival, Art&Music, Priredba and Barufe. In Slovenia, after winning the regional band contest YoungGunZ Tour 2008, they played at the country’s most prominent festivals: LENT, TRNfest and ŠKISova tržnica and established excellent contact with the audience in Slovenia. In early 2009 a debut album, Erupt!, is released on Sonic Doom Records. It's a sort of “the best of” songs created and played over the past three years. The album was recorded on analog tapes and mastered by Bob Katz, a three-time Grammy winner. Combing the aesthetics of Kyuss and Nirvana, dance elements of Gang of Four and Rapture, and the unrestrained playing by At the Drive-In, Ruiz have achieved a distinctive author’s expression which is difficult to genre categorize.
