QUI SUMUS was a screamo band from Nashville, TN. It started around July of 2008 after Josh Davis left Hard Way Out to pursue a different direction in music. Josh met up with Brandon McNutt, Chad Belcher, and Jairo Robles, who at the time were playing together as The Illuminati. One sit-in at their practice and a solo demonstration by Josh birthed QUI SUMUS. They began writing in late June/early July, and wrote most of their songs in the first week or two. Brandon went to Illinois to visit family for a week or two, leaving them on a short hiatus. When Brandon returned they finished up the songs they had. Earl Kelly of A Promised Threat was brought into the project to do back-up vocals, as well as Chris Studer on guitar, but this was short lived and they eventually left the band. They then went on to another brief hiatus. They returned to touch up some songs and record their demo. They played a show in Columbia, TN and met up with Logan Kenzie, who did guitar and vocals for Of Famine And Chance. They brought him from Chattanooga to Nashville to board with them and play music together. Logan briefly played with QUI SUMUS, but it began to change their musical direction, and they agreed to part ways musically. They started playing shows for a month or so, cut a live demo, and played their last show at The Atomic Rocket in Columbia.
