Part 1 of 6 THE ANATOMY OF EXPLOITATION Poxxicle is music created from sound files recorded from the internet. The music is created by filtering, processing, slowing down or speeding up the files, in what is quite a laborious process. The files contain speech, sounds and music . Occasionally remnants of the original recordings appear to survive or resurface. This first project, The Pornography Files (first), is made up of sound files found on online pornography sites: The content of these sites must be viewed as being exploitative, whether the material is recorded by individuals, by criminal gangs or by “clean” multinational corporations. As such poxxicle could be described as essentially a political motivated work. However, poxxicle is art first, music second, social commentary third.
