Artist
Taken from Lawnchair Records (http://www.lawnchairrecords.com) "Pekka was the kid who was doing covers of Cure songs on his computer when he was 15, while the rest of you were too wrapped up in the trappings of being young - girls or boys, booze and smokes. Not that Pekka doesn't also indulge into these finer things in life (hence his catch phrase: "Pekka is never drunk because he is always wasted"), but he was doing it all, as well as winning a number of high profile skateboarding tournaments (such as the Finnish National Championships - twice) and developing his skills as a photographer. Now, a few years on, everything has developed and continues developing... Pekka is well known around the Stockholm area for his abilities as a photographer, as a skater and as a musician. Pekka is influenced by, but not limited by, Okkervil River, Josh Rouse, and Bright Eyes - and while you can hear some of these influences on his recording, 'the Island EP' - Pekka writes from somewhere inside and usually creates something very original, or at least explores a common theme in an unique way. On 'the Island EP' you can hear the landscape of Åland, the island where Pekka wrote and recorded all the material for his EP, shaping the recorded sound. There are many references to its geography and the people on the island who have touched his life. All of this makes for a powerful debut recording... Pekka then went back into Zadkin Studios in Åland to record a second EP with friend Noriko Jezkov
