Oldmangrady began life as a punky, rough-edged garage band in Wilson, NC. Original members Phil Sabella, Scott Hardesty and Lee Modlin wrote a handful of songs trying to bridge the gap between modern CCM and the Nirvana influenced guitar sludge that Phil and Lee were influenced by. After a few shows, Scott felt called back to Asbury Lane, the group he had played with in college. Phil and Lee trudged on forward for the next year or so with a revolving line-up of musicians. Slowly, the music began to evolve into a more friendly, radio-geared thing and an expanding praise and worship set. After a pretty good stint with third drummer Joe Knowles, OMG stepped into the next phase. Four shows into the new line-up, Lee decided that it was time to pull the plug. Family obligations were more important than the live ministry that OMG had been carrying on. The final live show, featuring Phil, Lee and newcomers Bradd Nichols and Alex Nolette, came on August 11, 2001. the band played one of its finest shows ever and bowed out gracefully. In June of 2007, Lee began writing and arranging new songs that he plans to record under the name Oldmangrady. There are no plans to put together another live version of the band but Lee feels that he still has some songs left in him and Oldmangrady is the only proper way to label them.
