ok.danke.tschüss ("ok.thanks.bye") is a German indie ("unicorn rock") band from Mannheim. There are several stories about how the band got its name. One says it came from former guitarist Tim, who often said “ok, danke” or “ok, danke tschüss” when he made a mistake while practicing. In another version, told by the band themselves, the name was born while swimming together in the blue Adriatic Sea. They claimed that, with a bit of imagination, their moles seemed to spell out “okdanketschüss” when they put them side by side. Eva Sauter started a Youtube channel "Einfach nur Eva" where she covered songs. The band was founded in 2018 and has been performing at concerts and festivals across Germany since then, including Southside, Deichbrand, Highfield, and Open Flair. The members met at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg during a band exchange program. ok.danke.tschüss received funding from Initiative Musik in 2019 and 2023 for production and marketing support. In 2020, they released their debut album Kaputt weil’s nicht funktioniert, recorded at Kleine Audiowelt studio in Sandhausen. That same year, singer Eva Sauter was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She has been cancer-free since 2021. During her treatment and chemotherapy, she wrote the song Leukämie du Bitch, which was released as a single in 2022. Through a jury selection and public voting, the band won the “Deine Band” competition in 2021, a joint project by the Goethe-Institut and Deutsche Welle. As part of
