néomí is the moniker for Dutch folk pop singer-songwriter, Néomi Speelman, who writes authentic stories backed by dreamy soundscapes, inspired by the classic folk songwriters, old and new alike. Although born in The Netherlands, Néomi is half Dutch, half Surinamese after her mother moved from Suriname as a child. As a youngster, her first step into music was rather unfortunate, as she was told to attend piano tuitions. She hated it and, after five years, quit the piano and vowed never to play music again. Four years later, inspired by a Ben Howard music video, she picked up a guitar and began teaching herself how to play. Néomi released two EPs (before in 2022, after in 2023) before releasing her debut full-length, somebody's daughter in 2024.
