Dark, playful and really pretty at the same time, kind of like that girl/guy you have a crush on." - Star News (Wilmington, NC) Facing You is Marionette's (Richmond, Virginia) debut full length and features strong songwriting and unique male/female harmonies set against soundscapes of reedy accordions, grinding feedback guitars, bow scraping upright bass, bells, hubcaps, charmingly half working organs/pianos and drum machines, field recordings, horns, and strings. Also features guest performances by musicians from Richmond, VA’s vibrant music scene. “Facing You” takes inspiration from the band’s favorite records from the days of LPs and cassettes and is sequenced with a side A and side B in mind. “Side A” (Tracks 1-6) shows off songs that are more like singles with hints of chaos, noise, and textures. “Side B” (7-11) is more continuous song to song, and has a rawer, expansive sound. Selected tracks include: Sound Asleep: There is a lyric – “I’ll wait for the day” – that reflects the mood of the song. Anticipation.
