Apparently there are other people out there who have heard of At The Drive-In. Therefore on Last.fm, mannequinrepublic are the same band. As you can see, they were the first to claim the name on Last.fm! They can see how their name would still be annoying however, and the explanation for having their name in all lowercase letters is that it makes the band cool and prime subjects for the NME and no one can tell them otherwise. mannequin republic consists of four members in fairly clichéd roles.
