about

Makcik Loves Everyday Music (MLEM) is a one-person band driven by heart, soul, and connection. Eva, the creator behind MLEM, is a closeted Xennial from Malaysia who believes her words flow best as lyrics. She channels the spirit of a South African honey badger, fearlessly inspired by the well-loved meme. Outside of music, she’s a typical housewife with kids. Her musical influences span Nirvana, Radiohead, Guns N' Roses, and Alanis Morissette. For Eva, “modern” music (post-1996) includes Foo Fighters, Avicii, Billie Eilish, Imogen Heap, KT Tunstall, and Nothing But Thieves. Her genre-blind approach channels the fierce energy of Slipknot and Rammstein; the haunting beauty of Sentenced, Evanescence, Nightwish; captivating tones of Sigrid, Tove Lo, The Lumineers, Doja Cat, Emilie Simon, and Elise Trouw. She also embraces the electronic artistry of One True God, LukHash, Galantis, Chase & Status, and Pendulum. An ex-journalist with a love for storytelling, Eva transforms her life experiences into lyrics filled with raw honesty. Partnering with generative AI (called Alex), she brings these stories to life, believing that all music—AI-made or human-made—reflects its creator’s heart. She ensures each song stays catchy, even to her own ears, blending sad lyrics with upbeat tunes to face her inner demons. MLEM invites listeners to go deeper, to feel rather than just hear. It’s a reminder that connection is what makes life resonate. User-contributed text is available under the Crea
