River (maddie rayne) is a trans artist based in vancouver, canada. He was born in Calgary, Alberta on November 1, 2005 (making him a scorpio) River grew up with struggles regarding their mental health, often experiencing panic attacks during the summer of 2020 and living with severe depression throughout early middle school and high school. April 2020 was the first time River felt a connection with the music he wrote. He had gotten a Ukulele as a gift from their uncle and started writing songs. Before releasing his first single, “Home”, he had released songs onto Soundcloud. Songs including “Home (is broken)”, “Little Boys”, “Midnight Nightmare”, and “Maybe She’s Happier”. River takes inspiration by Cavetown, Chloe Moriondo, Girl in Red, and Taylor Swift. He’s said that Taylor Swift was the reason he started writing music and Chloe Moriondo was the reason why they started playing ukulele.
