letter to juliet began in august of 2001. a few months prior to this; mike's other band had decided to call it 'quits', so mike began to write songs on his acoustic because it was convenient to write the songs on acoustic since there was no band to back it up. every night mike would use an old analog 4-track to record the several songs that he had written. these recordings were less than pleasing; (some can be found on the internet). he would record cd's and label them "juliet" to keep them organized, or whatever. mike then asked bryan if he would be interested in getting a band started. mike gave bryan the recordings of the songs that he had so that bryan could learn the songs. somehow these songs were shuffled across the internet and there became somewhat of a small demand for these songs. eventually, to fill up the sound, they hooked up with matt smith, who was in a number of bands with mike before. then their friend zach learned the songs on bass for a few shows. the line-up seemed to change every show. they realized that they needed a steady arrangement. they then hooked up with eric boyd on drums and dave tracy on bass, who both fill up the slots perfectly. this is the current and hopefully the permanent letter to juliet, in the raw.
