Music had put a spell on me since I was a child. I started having piano lessons since elementary school and by the time I went to hight-school I new that music was something I wanted to study and practice in my life. Announcing to my parents that music was what I wanted to do after my high-school graduation, despite their second thoughts they supported me and helped me in any way they could. While at high-school, I had the chance to participate in various shows and concerts, in theaters around free Cyprus, Greece and some of the biggest theaters of Europe, as a member of Diastasis, a cultural association of my town. Those were valuable times as I got to know the sounds of a live orchestra, the music of Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Dimitris Lagios. I also participated in remakes of musicals from the West End and the american musical theatre. I still bring with me memories of George Moustaki’s simplicity on stage, George Dalaras’ professionalism the sounds of the symphonic orchestra of the city of Oxford. It was important to also take part in preparations and sound-checks, as I realized from an early age how difficult art is to practice. It is important to love your country’s traditional music and the international music as well.
