ior plays a kind of indie rock, but with a clear pop vein that’s impossible to miss. It might not sound exactly like anything else, but for those who enjoy pop music with emotion, well-written lyrics, jangly sounds, and intricately crafted guitar melodies, ior will be a welcome addition to the Swedish music scene. “These are simple melodies where the focus is always on the stories the lyrics convey; like diary entries/stories and thoughts on breakups, love, joy of life, and euphoria.” The band ior is from Gothenburg and consists, in addition to David Fridlund from David & the Citizens, of Daniel Fridlund Brandt, David Bergström, and Mathias Engwall, who can also be found in bands like Kid Down, Joel Alme, European Sons, Llawgne, New Moscow, among others.
