Artist
A cobza player who plays in the lautareasca style. The Cobza has become less widespread in usage than previoiusly. The oldest illustrations and even old photos from the late 19th century show the cobza, along with the violin and the nai as the standard Roma ensemble for entertainment. In the folk ensembles in the od style, the cobza simply strums following the harmony of the melody. Ion Zlotea made a 45rpm disc in which he plays melody giving some idea of the potential of this instrument. He plays compositions in the Lautaraeasca style accompanied by Florea Cioaca.
