hàl, a.k.a. Uesaka Haruko (上坂晴子), was born March 17, 1979 in Akita, Japan. She is a female singer-songwriter signed to the Victor Entertainment label. She debuted in 1996 with the single "Hitch Hike 〜to where I belong〜" when she was just a high school student. She would go on to release a mini-album entitled, "another side of life" and a second single, "CUTE" before graduating high school. Her first album, "way of my attitude" was released in 1997. As of 2009, she has released 9 singles, 3 mini-albums, and 4 albums, a limited edition self-selection album, and a best of album, "ゴールデン☆ベスト (Golden☆Best)." "もう青い鳥は飛ばない (Bluebird won't fly anymore)" which was released in 1998, is noted for being chosen by manga artist Kubo Tite as the image song of Arisawa Tatsuki, a female character in the manga series Bleach. While working as a singer, she has also worked as a model, radio DJ. hal started acting in 2006, appearing in CMs, films, and television dramas such as "Suppli" and "Galileo."
