GASP! is a band that writes and plays their own songs, openly inspired by hard rock, glam metal and hair metal music that characterized the 80s. Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Van Halen are just some of the big names that influence the lyrics and melodies of their songs. The members of the group never take themselves too seriously though: on one hand they celebrate the rock they love, on the other they mocking it by taking its style to the extreme. Their motto sums up this philosophy and they define themselves as "the greatest lack of innovation of the 21st century". Their music is gritty and engaging. The lyrics are in English, as in the great tradition of rock, with ironically aggressive and boastful themes, they sing about rebellion, hedonistic love, vices and addictions. The look is blatantly sexualized and ambiguous, they make extensive use of spandex, leather and denim, covering themselves in necklaces, bracelets, belts and bandanas.
