Formed in 2024 in Tashkent, elbowsway is the first band to bring authentic shoegaze to Uzbekistan’s music scene. Blending elements of post-shoegaze, hardcore, and emo, the group crafts a sound that feels both raw and cinematic — heavy guitars, emotional depth, and a sense of looming chaos that never quite resolves. The band’s name comes from a real story: founder Thomas dislocated his elbow at a concert — and the moment somehow stuck, becoming part of their identity. Their debut single, common sense, opens with an apocalyptic wall of guitars and dark lyricism exploring “people’s constant drive to divide and hate each other, and where that division leads.” The track sets the tone for their first EP, due out in early 2026. Influenced by Nothing, Narrow Head, Trauma Ray, Cloakroom, Modern Color, Cursetheknife, Money, All Under Heaven, Whirr, and Hum, elbowsway bring a new wave of post shoegaze energy to Central Asia — a sound as heavy as it is introspective.
