Artist
Brian Noring Originally coming from the fanzine scene with Friends Of The Draft Resistance (F.D.R. for short) I was already familiar with some of the DIY noisecore and grindnoise tape scene, but I was really looking for something different. While browsing through the back of Industrial Nation magazine I saw an add from Dave Fuglewicz advertising his tapes, I wrote to him about a trade and shortly thereafter received his tape Passage. Getting this tape in the mail felt like a revelation to me, as it was the first thing I had heard that was similar to my own homemade explorations, and suddenly everything was starting to fall into place. Based in Des Moines, Brian Noring did his experimental music under many guises. He called himself ( and also sometimes in collaboration with others) EHI, 360 Sound, Quarantine ( with Kevin Paisley), Monochromatic ( with Dave Wren), Prototype Earthborne ( with Bryan Day) and others. He's worked with Keith Nicolay, Phil Klampe, Charles Rice Goff, Hal McGee and many others as well. His music is truly experimental in the sense that he doesn't just stick to noise or synth diddling. He rambles on loose electric guitar, bemoans vocals, does freak out electronics, kiddie keyboards, harsh noise and whatever he finds underfoot. And on his FDR label has released many tapes of his own and others including Crudsocket ( with Shawn Kerby).
