E-sound Speaker is a three-piece rock band from Japan, formed in 1999 by three college friends (大迫, 並木 and 鈴木由宇大). They honed their skills early on playing live shows before releasing a self-produced album titled ANOIA in 2001 on the Highline Records label. Their band name was originally EMOTIONAL SOUND SPEAKER, which was changed to their current name in 2002. They released three mini-albums and one full length album between 2003 and 2006, and had their first solo show in mid 2006. Their original drummer, 鈴木由宇大 left the band in 2007. The remaining members continued as a two-piece band, which made great strides in a short time. Their major debut came in January 2008 with their single "Stand By Me", which was soon followed by their first major album, Shunkan, and a solo live tour. A new drummer, 南部陽介, joined in 2009. Their latest recording, 存在の詩, was released in December 2010 on their own label, add9 Records. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
# Why E-sound Speaker Merits Attention This Japanese trio's evolution from college friends to recording artists reveals something intriguing about adaptation and creative resilience. What distinguishes them is their willingness to fundamentally reshape their sound—moving from a conventional three-piece configuration to an intentional two-piece format after 2007. Rather than merely replacing a lost member, they appear to have embraced constraint as a creative catalyst. Their early self-produced work and subsequent releases between 2003 and 2006 demonstrate a band genuinely invested in craft and experimentation. Their journey invites curiosity about how stripped-down instrumentation might deepen artistic vision, and how regional rock communities outside major commercial centers
