There are more than one bands with this name. 1) HARDCORE PUNK ROCK AND ROLL BASED OUT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA uppersndowners.bandcamp.com 2) The Norwegian duo of Tor Dybdahl and Geir Sinding, who made a lot of demos but only one single (December Rain) in 1985. 3) Crawling out of the corners of Waterford, Michigan’s lake-infested terrain, four kids have pooled their collective apathy and general angst to create a group aptly named Downers. Their standout mixture of rock, punk, and hardcore evolved from their personal takes on the punk of movement of their youth. Inspired by the origination of passionate hardcore music and catchy pop punk, Downers have taken heavy music back to its roots, but with a style all their own. Looking to supplement their more-than-adequate debut Nothing Looks Good LP, the group took time out this summer to write and record a brand new EP entitled Digital Teens, which they feel accurately showcases the growth of their sound. Downers enlisted the skills of Nothing Looks Good producer Mark Michalik at his new Sentient Studios location in Chicago, IL. “We’ve known Mark for years. We knew we could trust him to make us sound the best we could,” states vocalist Casey Mansfield. Extremely excited about this new music, Downers have been pursuing good karma, posting two songs a month for listeners, as well as leaking it online for the more net-savvy scene members.
