Dead Station is a four piece modern alternative rock group based in Austin, Texas. Their sound is characterized by hauntingly delicate melodic breaks pressed tightly against walls of guitars, a rising and emotional vocal performance, and an infectious rhythmic undertow that pulls you into the depths and holds you beneath the surface of its sound. The band is influenced by such artists as Deftones, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Circa Survive, Soundgarden, Middle Class Rut, A Perfect Circle, The Mars Volta, and Tool. The self titled Dead Station LP was released on August 23, 2011 and is the product of writing and recording sessions that spanned more than a year. The release represents everything that makes the band special. The disc features feverish and fast paced rock anthems such as "I Will" and "It Won't Be Long" which place your head into motion from the onset. These succinct and to the point tracks are juxtaposed nicely against the sprawling and atmospheric numbers such as "Lights Warming Skin" where singer Morgan James Duplant takes an outside looking in approach to his personal shortcomings and failures as someone else writing the biography of himself. A story of a young man who hasn't actualized the expectations of those who knew him best. The track climaxes with Duplant screaming "you left us wanting more" over the swell of guitars and crashing cymbals. The band flashes its technical ability all over the record in a way that feels very tasteful and natural. Bryan Canat
