about

clynder:sound originally formed in 2002 as a musical project to fill up some free time with a line-up of two guitarists and a drummer. It may be assumed the early compositions would miss out on the low rumbling bass but they made up for it by covering a vast sonic range. The guitars swirl and soar around each other making a cavernous sound, with the wide atmospheric compositions offering a nice variation on the modern experimental guitar sound. 2004 witnessed clynder:sound cement its live performance with numerous gigs in its local Birmingham area. A year later the band had accumulated an albums worth of ideas and material and began recording with Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studios. However, a hiatus in June 2006 brought an end to this process, a repetitive schedule of local dates took the energy and drive from the once bellowing sails. Time is a healer and 2009 saw the reigniting of clynder:sound with a fresh line-up introducing a new bassist and guitarist, once again hungry and determined to put their soaring spatial effects onto record. The soon to be complete debut album contains the reworking of older pieces and a new injection of vigour and enthusiasm once lost on the local gig circuit. The description of instrumental or experimental may conjure up certain preconceptions, but clynder:sound never enter the ground of generic post rock. The creation of sonic landscapes, tight musicianship, and a self determination to be creative, put all ideas of generalisation to
