Artist
Born and raised in Hamilton, New Zealand, singer-songwriter Christine White has three albums to her name, plus a long list of composing credits for other artists, corporate and government clients. Of Ngai Tahu and English descent, Christine was brought up surrounded by music at home and in the church. An accomplished composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, she has also been honing her production and recording skills, and self-produced her 2005 album Pirouette. Currently based in Wellington, Christine lived in Auckland for nearly 18 years, performing extensively in pubs, clubs and festivals, on television and radio and as support to international acts such as Ani di Franco, Suzanne Vega and Melbourne's Blue House. Christine's recent win in the New Zealand School of Music Composer's Competition 2008 reflects some new directions. She has been studying at the New Zealand School of Music for two years and intends to continue her post-graduate studies in 2009. She counts her current musical influences as Neil Finn, Coldplay, Radiohead, John Cage, John Psathas, Laurie Anderson and Luke Ferrari.
