about

Braving the Seabed was a band formed from the ashes of Glimmer in Perth, Western Australia. Under the previous moniker and with a different drummer, the band toured and released material in 1998. Joining the group early in 1999 and becoming the catalyst for a consolidatory overhaul, was drummer, Marty. With a closer defined sound and more focused dynamic, the band felt the difference warranted a name change. They recorded the entire album soon after Marty joined, then re-recorded it once they felt their sound had settled, only to re-record again after realising they had finally found their truest and most comfortable form. Braving the Seabed's self-titled release is soundscape born of dischordant beauty, slowing, beginning as amber and descending into night - crashing, then resting, on shorelines fraught with sudden calming. After recording several songs with Simon Struthers (of Adam Said Galore and Mukaizake) which never saw the light of day, the band split in 2001. Half of the band went on to form Minor Ache and The Leap Year. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
