BRANKO ARNSEK, jazz bassist Arnsek, Branko, bass; b. Celje (Slovenia), 29 April 1959. In 1960, emigrated to West Germany (Sindelfingen nearby Stuttgart). In 1968, he had his first piano lessons. In 1974, he founded his first jazz band. In 1976, he took classical contrabass lesson and performed with Mladost, the Yugoslavian folk ensemble in Stuttgart. In 1977, he did glass painter training, and played street music with accordion. In 1982, he founded the salsa orchestra Wawanxo. In 1985, he had performances with Zigeli Winter Quartett. In 1986, he founded the salsa orchestra Don Carlos y su Orchestra, took more classical contrabass lessons and had performances with Sindelfinger Laiensymphonieorchester. In 1987, he studied music under Joe Haider at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern (Switzerland). In 1988, he founded the jazz trio White Diamnds with Harry Hartmann, sax., and Jogi Nestel, dr. He also freelanced with various bands, i. e. "Mecky Balog Quartett" (gipsy swing), "Rade Soric Trio" (piano trio, mainstream jazz), "Francisco Gileno Trio" (Brasilian musica popular), "Cleo Watson Band" (funk/soul) and Dixieland bands. Since 1989, he has been a teacher for contrabass and electric bass in jazz and popular music at Musikschule Stuttgart. In 1992, he made his first concert tour to Russia with White Diamonds, supported by Vladimir Bolschakow, g. (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Petrosawodsk).
