Bonda was one of the first Belarusian rock bands active from 1980 till 1989. After the band’s break-up its members formed such bands as Krama, Rokis, ULIS and The Little Blues Band. The band was formed in 1980 by students of the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute Ivan Markaŭ and Siarhiej Knyš together with a student of the Belarusian State Conservatory Viačasłaŭ Ściapanaŭ as the first vocalist. The band started to use lyrics by Russian poets and its name was Studyja 7 at first. Siarhiej Darožka joins the band as a bass player in autumn and a year later Ihar Varaškievič joins to become the second vocalist that played the harmonica as well. In 1982 Viačasłaŭ Korań joins the band as the second guitarist. In late 1983 the band creates its first song in Belarusian ‘Sol žyćcia’. In a year Ściapanaŭ and Darožka leave and Siarhiej Kraŭčanka becomes a bassist. Ihar Varaškievič becomes a lead vocalist. At this point the history of Bonda begins. In 1986 Bonda records its first album ‘Miesca pad soncam’ at an amateur studio in Minsk (officially released on cassettes in 1996 only). In 1988 the first video for the song ‘Ura!’ was shot. ‘Na stancyji Kojdanava’ followed in 1989.
