After a brief period on the sidelines of what can only be described as "studio inertia" - bauer are back with perhaps their finest effort to date. "Change Forever" swells with a pulsating urgency and lyrical prowess/ poignancy that can only really be comparable with the likes of the heart-warming "hit pop factory" offerings of "James" throughout the late 80s & much the 90s and the more "heartaching" sound of eternally underrated Manchester bedfellows "Puressence". Unlike the band's previous offerings (the often lauded signature tune "connected" and the indie chart slaying "starting again") "Change Forever" is a track that creeps into the consciousness with a brooding mystique that serves only to intrigue (key reference point - The Stone Roses seminal single "Made Of Stone" - although perhaps closer in sound to prime period Depeche Mode) - only to hit the listener with a sucker punch of a chorus that is likely to be ringing in your ears for days.... ...As with the aforementioned Puressence, bauer have yet to scale the commercial heights of what has been expected (the band were famously courted by the Mercury/Universal label and recorded by Robbie Williams/pop producer Steve Power in the mid 2000's only to be cast aside as the onslaught of Arctic Monkeys soundalikes took over the still faltering music industry..- the fact that the band are giving away this nugget as a free download is quite telling....) - all this is set to change however with the onset of the forthcoming a
