Al Rowley began his musical journey after first hearing soul and melody bursting through his stereo from the likes of The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Led Zeppelin. Al began to craft his own material in poems and stories with a view to turning them into musical pieces. His passion and understanding for moulding a melody and lacing it with emotion that others could relate to was a solid foundation to become a popular and respected writer. Al met Jon Gallop, a local musician who shared his love of melody and popular song and they began to write together. They learned some chords on the guitar and began to busk the streets of Colchester. Al & Jon created their first outfit 'Subway' and played the pubs and venues of Essex and London to great public acclaim. The highlight of their early days was playing an 800 strong crowd at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester, which recieved outstanding reviews. A few years and a record later Al decided to concentrate on his acoustic solo material and work with Jon under the guise of the London based electric explosion, 'Icarus' www.flyingtooclosetothesun.com Al's solo material has gathered much support and strong reviews on the amateur musicians site Garageband.com. All of his songs have reached the top 10% of artists and a few hitting the Garageband Chart Top 40.
